My Introduction
For
those of you who want to sew their own unique garments,
welcome to my world! From time to time I offer classes
sharing techniques and the knowledge I use in my creations.
Join in with others who have really enjoyed their experience
here in "House on the Hill Studio", a wonderfully eclectic
space that I share with artist Janet Bailey
(www.theartofjanetbailey.com) in the Village of Glen
Williams, Ontario.

Beginner Bias and Collage
This is a one-day, hands on workshop where you will learn
how to make and sew bias for use in collaged garments and
home decorating projects. We will be tackling the upside
down HongKong finish that I use to edge a lot of my
jackets and coats.
This is a prerequisite course for all other
classes below (unless you have taken a class from me before
and are proficient at making and sewing bias).
These classes are fun for all!
Come see for yourself.
Bring: A sewing machine in good working order,
scissors, pins and thread. I will provide the rest.
Time: 10:00 am to
approximately 3:30 pm with a lunch break. Please bring your
own lunch. I will provide a variety of teas and coffee.

Level 1 - Learning to Design your Own Collaged
Garment
(or pillow or bag)
These are a set of two 3-hour classes with homework
assigned for you to do between classes. We will learn the
simpler methods I use to collage garments but apply them to
a bag or pillow at this level. If you wish you can bring
patterns and materials that you already have in your stash. Do NOT buy
anything new before the first class. Also, we will not be
sewing in the classroom, so don't bring your sewing machine;
just your smile.
Cost: $100.00 including tax for the set of
two classes
Dates: Friday, October 14, 2011 and October
28, 2011
OR
Saturday, October 15 and October 29. 2011

Taking the Next Step up to ‘More’
These are a set of two 3-hour classes with homework assigned
for you to do between classes. We are taking the next step
up to a jacket or coat and more design techniques. The same
prerequisite applies, or you’ve taken a one of my classes
and you have a good handle on bias and simple collage.
Please bring patterns and/or fabrics in your stash that you
are thinking of using to the first class. Also, we will not
be sewing in the class, so don't bring your sewing machine;
just your smile.
Cost: $100.00 including tax for the set

Upcoming Future
Workshops: Date, TBD
1. Beauty
for Ashes: Recycling and Reclaiming cloth into
wearable art. This is part of my on-going journey to be more
productive, greener and innovative. I have just become a
member of www.goingforthegreen.net, too. I am so excited!
2. Inspired Garments: We will take
something you find inspiring (could be a vase, painting or
another object) and interpret it into a garment.
